Working and treatment of Cimetidine – Tagamet
Cimetidine is largely used in the treatment of heartburn and peptic ulcers. The drug is a very active antigen which prevents the formation of toxic gas in the stomach. Tagamet prevents the toxic waste in the body to be accumulated in the kidney. If the waste accumulates in the kidney it can cause serious functioning problems. Some people experience heart burn when they have a spicy meal or at times due to gastric problems. Such patients take Tagamet which prevents secretion of gas in the stomach.

Excess of such materials react within the body where the body lose the ability to excrete them. Cimetidine has also been reported for use in treatment of colorectal cancer. It is however not approved in the US by the FDA for cancer treatment. Tests show Cimetidine is included in the treatment of Chronic Calcifying Tendonitis of the shoulder. The small scale study took 16 individuals with calcifying tendonitis in one shoulder.

The patients previously attempted other forms of therapy including steroid injection and arthroscopic levage. During the course of the study 10 patients reported an elimination of pain. With results being on a small scale, it has been recommended that Cimetidine, for the treatment of chronic calcifying tendonitis. Heart Burns are seen among people sometimes reported mild at other times serious. At times it is a temporary feeling because of over secretion of gastric juice in the stomach. It is consumed either by dissolving or by swallowing with the water.
